The Long Goodbye

Grief & Healing

An old belief holds that grief is only love with nowhere left to go — and that a candle, burned slowly enough, can show it the way. The Long Goodbye was poured with that in mind: sandalwood and frankincense to steady the room, dried rose for what still needs saying. Some keep it lit through the hardest anniversary of the year; some burn it once and pass the rest to someone who needs it more. It was made for whoever taught us that some things are worth missing.

— how to burn it safely —

Getting the most from your candle

  • ·Trim the wick to 1/4" before every burn.
  • ·Let the first burn reach a full, even melt pool across the top — this prevents tunnelling on every burn after.
  • ·Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time.
  • ·Keep away from drafts, children, pets, and anything flammable.
  • ·Stop burning once about 1/2" of wax remains at the base.
  • ·Let the candle cool completely before relighting or moving it.
